National Park Family Sessions | Arizona Family Photographer

This family session is what sparked the idea. Why not!?

If you are on social media such as Instagram, I’m certain your feed has images of lovely couples getting eloped or engaged in an epic location such as Yosemite National Park. When planning this family’s session, I verbalized my dream of doing the same idea of “adventure” sessions only instead of cute couples in wedding attire, I explained, why can’t we do the same idea with a family session!

Being a mama myself, I know what goes into planning a family session and getting coordinating outfits for the whole crew. I know the work it is to get yourself ready and the kids. I also know that for my own family, we do NOT fit the “adventure” part of “adventure” sessions!

I treat my families I work with like my very own brood! I know for our family, we couldn’t do long treks in our car let alone attempting to hike miles to an epic location.

Therefore, when planning this session, I simply spoke of what I would do with my very own family. If we were to adventure to a National Park for a family session, how could we make a whole mini vacay out of it?! I thought of staying at a hotel with a pool to have a place to get ready, and enjoying the park over the weekend versus just for the photo shoot.

However, there are some locations so close that it wouldn’t even be necessary such as The Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. From Pinetop, Petrified Forest National Park is only a little over an hour and would make for a great day trip!

I have ventured to the red rocks of Sedona, mountainside views of Flagstaff, out of this world views of the Petrified Forest, and now Badlands National Park. The locations I have chosen for each family have been based on how young the children are, how adventurous each family is, and most locations have been right off the side of a road with very little walking!

It is work for myself and each family, but it is #worthit
